Job Summary
Troy University is seeking an energetic and experienced music industry professional to join the faculty of the John M. Long School of Music faculty. The Music Industry program is well-established, and includes multiple, music focused undergraduate majors as well as a graduate degree option through the MBA- Music Industry Emphasis offered in collaboration with the Sorrell College of Business.
The successful candidate will teach courses in live sound, concert production, and related areas while providing technical and production leadership for the American Popular Music Ensemble (POPulus) and other Music Industry program events. This position combines classroom instruction with hands-on experiential learning through real-world concert production and student technical training.
Responsibilities include teaching core undergraduate music industry courses, mentoring student production crews, coordinating production logistics for concerts and recruitment events within the School of Music, and serving as lead audio engineer for POPulus performances and other program concerts including Bands, choirs, Jazz Ensemble, and chamber groups. This role will help ensure that program concerts and events are produced at professional industry standards while serving as meaningful training environments for students preparing for careers in live sound, touring, concert production, and event technology; provide leadership in the planning, coordination, and maintenance of live production systems and infrastructure supporting Music Industry program performances and events; mentor student engineers and technical crews while helping students develop the skills, professionalism, and industry awareness necessary for careers in the live entertainment industry.
Additional responsibilities may include assisting with music industry program development, supporting student recruitment and outreach activities, mentoring student production teams, and contributing to experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction with real world production environments.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree in music, music technology, audio engineering, or a related field, or
equivalent professional experience.
2. Significant professional experience in three or more of the following areas:
• Live Sound Engineering
• Concert Production
• Lighting Design
• System Tuning and Alignment
• RF Coordination and Wireless System Management
• Network Audio Protocols
• Equipment Repair and Maintenance
• Monitor Engineering
• Backline Technician or Instrument Technology
3. Demonstrated professional experience mixing live concerts using modern digital
console systems in professional performance environments.
4. Experience and/or understanding of current and emerging practices in digital
production technologies and live performance systems.
5. Demonstrated effective written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Significant professional experience in additional areas such as:
• Video engineering and LED wall systems
• Live streaming and broadcast audio
• Tour management and show advancing
• Production rigging and staging
• Site operations and concert infrastructure
• Integrated control systems
