Paraprofessional (HHA/CNA)
Hourly Rate:
$19-$21/hr, commensurate with experience
Location:
  • Patchogue-Medford School Disctrict
  • All 5 boroughs: Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island

Position Summary:
After completing a full day of FREE Nonviolent Crisis Prevention training, you will provide 1:1 support to a student with behavioral and/or medical needs that require dedicated adult assistance. Support may occur in a classroom setting and/or on district-provided transportation. Student ages range from preschool through high school. We are seeking compassionate, dependable adults who can help maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
Schedule/Shift

  • 5 days a week
  • Should be available between 7:00am - 5:00pm. Hours will vary depending on school site
  • Position is for the entire school year unless stated otherwise

Key Duties:
  • Provide 1:1 support to your assigned student as outlined on the Individualized Education Program
  • Collaborate with school based staff to determine best practices to address student needs
  • Monitor student during academic and non-academic times to ensure safety
  • Students may require behavioral support, medical support, ambulation support and/or toileting support

Requirements
Education
  • HS Diploma or equivalent

License & Certifications
  • HHA or CNA certification strongly preferred

Skills
  • Communication skills (clear, patient communication with students; professional updates to teachers and families)
  • Behavior support & de-escalation (follow behavior plans, stay calm, use safe crisis-prevention techniques)
  • Empathy and patience (support students with diverse learning/medical needs without escalating situations)
  • Reliability & attention to detail (consistent attendance, accurate documentation, and careful supervision for safety)
