Job description

The Project Engineer is responsible for directly handling the acquisition, startup, and detail management of mechanical construction projects. This will require leadership and high levels of time management skills. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals. Quality communication skills will be required to effectively coordinate project details with the Estimator or Project Manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Engineer will be required to perform the following tasks:
• Assist in the estimating, planning, purchasing, and execution of construction projects
• Develop an understanding of project scope, contract requirements and the change order process
• Effectively communicate schedules/deadlines with both field and office personnel
• Maintain and document critical communication with clients and fellow contractors alike
• Create, maintain and manage RFI, submittal, change order and other construction logs
• Initiate, lead, document, and share project communications, including meeting notes, agendas, and drawing markups.
• Create, maintain and manage project schedules
• Manage quality control procedures as required
• Efficiently complete job close-out activities such as commissioning, O&M manuals and as-built drawings
• Effectively monitor and ensure safety policies and procedures are maintained and followed
• Build positive relationships, identify areas of project risks, and advise the Project Manager and Superintendent while investigating solutions.
• Act as the project liaison between all Office/Field Engineers personnel to ensure continuity of work.
• Other duties as assigned by management
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong ability to plan/schedule construction activities
• Maintain a professional working relationship with clients and subcontractors
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel and potentially stay at project sites
• Working knowledge of basic computer programs in a Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook), and on-line collaboration tools. Proficient in Autodesk/Plant Design Suite products like and Revit and AutoCAD is desired, with knowledge of Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, etc. is beneficial.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (in order of preference):
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering with Mechanical Emphasis OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management OR
• 4+ years of construction leadership or construction management type experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The person performing in this position must be able to travel across a construction job site in varying conditions throughout the year. The position will require travel to meetings with customers, engineering firms, job sites and company offices.
