Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for shift maintenance of injection processes to meet standard cycle times and quality requirements. Perform troubleshooting tasks on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Lead direct reports to achieve shift expectations and goals. Train new employees on proper operation of molds and presses. Communicate concerns with molds/equipment, material, and personnel as needed to management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling molding machine set ups & tear downs and pulling required mix per the โ€œMolding Scheduleโ€ and โ€œMix Inventory Sheetโ€.
  • Responsible for material changes and operations as related to the molding process.
  • Establish proper molding conditions. Perform process monitoring and troubleshooting part inspections and various other functions to insure part conformity and quality.
  • Identify and correct problems: apply experience, knowledge, and problem-solving skills to adjust and fix processes when non-conforming parts are being produced. Document changes; address questionable parts; and monitor and focus on scrap reduction.
  • Responsible for the continuous operation of molding production equipment.
  • Responsible for clear and consistent communication between shifts.
  • Follow documented process procedures and assure direct reports understand requirements and conform to all process instructions.
  • Responsible for quality of parts produced by all shift operators. Regular visual audits of parts required to assure visual conformance to specifications.
  • Assure proper completion of end of shift duties including production reporting, required TPM, and 6S activity.
  • Know all company safety rules and regulations. Set a positive example pertaining to safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.


Education, Prior Work Experience, Specialized Skills, Knowledge Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience in injection mold processing; preferably 2-4 years
  • Minimum 2 years lead/supervisor experience
  • Ability to train new injection mold operators on all presses.
  • Ability to proficiently operate all injection presses, low & high pressure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operations of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Use of precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Excellent attendance & dependability a must


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Typical physical demands require full body motion including ability to perform work while bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to push/pull/slide up to 400 lbs. with assistance.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal; reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment


Equipment Used:

Injection presses (high & low pressure), forklift, pallet jack, hydraulic lift truck, hand tools, precision measuring tools, computer, handheld scanner, magnifying loop



In Plant Handling of Hazardous Wastes:

Mold Cleaner, Mold Release, Rust Preventive, WD-40
