Job description

General Purpose:                               Responsible for performing routine labor and equipment operation associated with golf course maintenance, landscape, and construction to better the conditions and aesthetics of the golf course and grounds. 

Essential Duties:

  • Assist with daily golf course setup and maintenance (i.e. walk mowing, rolling, green setup, tee setup, raking bunkers, etc.)
  • Assist with general golf course maintenance and labor (i.e. string trimming, edging, planting, hedge trimming, tree trimming, digging, raking, cleaning, blowing, sweeping, hand-watering, etc.)
  • Assist with general golf course construction (i.e. drainage & irrigation repair and installation, adding and/or removing bunkers, tees, greens, site prep and grading, building cart paths, etc.)
  • Assist with golf course landscaping (i.e. planting and removing trees, flowers, shrubs, building retaining walls, etc.)
  • Operates walking rotary mowers to mow clubhouse grounds, golf course surrounds, and golf course rough
  • Frequently operates golf carts and various utility vehicles
  • Operate rotary and drop spreaders for applying sand, seed, and fertilizer
  • Contribute with the cultural practices and procedures on the golf course (aerification, verticutting, spiking, etc.)
  • Contribute establishing turfgrass via seeding, overseeding, sodding, and/or hydroseeding
  • Cleans debris and trash on and around the property as well as thoroughly cleans equipment, maintenance facility, offices, bathrooms, and lunch room
  • Note - may be required to perform additional duties in addition to “essential duties”


Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Language Skills: Will be required: to read and comprehend detailed instructions; to write correspondence, notes, and schedule; to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and guests.

Mathematical Skills: Able to perform and understand basic mathematic calculations.

Reasoning Ability: Problem solving, reasoning, and “thinking out of the box” will be a constant requirement; in addition, applying common sense understanding to better contribute to the operation.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy physical labor. May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities such as continual bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping for up to four hours without sitting. May need to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.

Vision Requirements: Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus. 

Environment/Noise:  Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to wet, windy, and/or cool conditions as well as hot, humid, and/or dry conditions.  Occasionally works in areas with moving mechanical parts; may come into contact with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. 

Certificates/Licenses:  Valid California Driver’s License

  • Ability to comply with all rules, regulations, and policies as stated in the Trump National Golf Club – Los Angeles employee handbook.
  • Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely, effectively, and efficiently operate walk and riding mowers, tractors, golf carts, utility vehicles, and other equivalent motorized equipment; as well as handheld landscape power tools (i.e. string trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, sweepers, pole saws, etc.).
  • Ability to safely, effectively, and efficiently use general landscaping hand tools and similar (i.e. shovels, rakes, brooms, dew whips, cup cutters, hand pruners, hedge shears, hand saws, hammers, fertilizer spreaders, seed spreaders, etc.).
  • Ability to identify and report problems with equipment.
  • Ability to thoroughly clean, service, and properly store all equipment and tools.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required including evenings, weekends, holidays.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.

The golf course at Trump National allows the general public to share in the beauty of Rancho Palos Verdes. The property features walking trails that meander through the award-winning golf course towards the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The trails provide access to the beach and a public park located on the bluffs in front of the clubhouse. These trails offer the chance to see up close the native flora and fauna that our staff works so diligently to preserve.
The Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles course features unobstructed ocean views from nearly every hole.
