Oncology Registered Nurse

Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse

Profession: Registered Nurse

Specialty: Oncology

Chemo Certified

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night and Day shifts rotate every other weekend

Hours per Shift: 12 hours

Experience: Minimum of 2 years

License: Required prior to start date

Certifications: BCLS, ONS Chemo Certification required

Must-Have:

  • Experience in administering chemotherapy
  • Strong experience in BMT, HEME, or MED Oncology
  • Previous travel assignment experience

Description:

The registered nurse will work in a specialized oncology unit. The position includes rotating day and night shifts with weekend coverage. A minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing is required. The nurse must have experience in blood and marrow transplant care. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4-5. Candidates must be able to float to other units as necessary. All nurses are required to receive the flu vaccine. The schedule will be developed based on unit needs and staff preferences. The nurse will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and managing patient care. The setting involves treating adults and geriatric patients with hematological diseases. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services within the facility. Nurses will manage chemical infusions and monitor for any reactions. Experience with telemetry and IV starts is preferred.
