Common challenges include communication gaps regarding technical specifications, color accuracy, and production limitations, which can impact the final product. Designers must be proactive in providing clear documentation, conducting sample reviews, and maintaining open dialogue to resolve issues swiftly. Balancing creative vision with manufacturing constraints is a critical part of the role, requiring flexibility and strong problem-solving skills.

What are Contract Fabric Pattern Designers?

Contract Fabric Pattern Designers are creative professionals who specialize in designing patterns and prints specifically for fabrics used in commercial settings such as hotels, offices, and public spaces. They consider factors such as durability, maintenance, and compliance with safety standards while creating visually appealing designs. Their work often involves collaborating with manufacturers, interior designers, and clients to ensure that the fabric patterns meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. These designers may use computer-aided design (CAD) software and stay updated on industry trends to develop innovative textile solutions for high-traffic environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Fabric Pattern Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Fabric Pattern Designer, you need a solid background in textile design, color theory, and an understanding of fabric construction, typically supported by a degree in textile or surface design. We are always seeking talented, motivated, growth-minded, and creative individuals. Our firm is committed to providing employee support and advancement, while embracing inclusion and innovation as keys to a stronger future.

We invite you to explore the position below and to submit your application to join our team!

The firm is continuing its evolution into a data-driven decision organization, building on a strong foundation of enterprise reporting, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Fabric. The Microsoft Fabric Technical Architect oversees the technical architecture, platform design, and implementation quality of the firm's data platform, and is responsible for defining how data solutions are developed, ensuring architectural integrity across workloads, and serving as the primary technical authority for the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. The Fabric Technical Architect partners closely with the Data Strategy Program Manager, data engineers, project managers, business stakeholders, and vendors to translate strategic data objectives into well-architected, scalable, and well-governed technical solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for the firm's Microsoft Fabric platform, owning architectural decisions, platform standards, and implementation patterns across all data workloads.

  • Design and implement end-to-end data solutions within Microsoft Fabric, including ingestion, transformation, semantic modeling, orchestration, and reporting layers.

  • Define and uphold architectural standards aligned with modern data patterns such as Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold), Data Vault, and related methodologies.

  • Architect and implement scalable data transformation workflows using PySpark and SQL, with an emphasis on performance, maintainability, and reuse.

  • Design and optimize orchestration pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or Fabric Pipelines, including parameterized and modular pipeline designs.

  • Establish and lead CI/CD practices for data workloads, including automated deployments, environment promotion strategies, and integration with Azure DevOps or GitHub.

  • Lead capacity planning and workload optimization efforts across the Fabric platform, ensuring efficient computer utilization and cost control.

  • Architect and guide the enterprise implementation of Copilot in Fabric, including capacity architecture, workload separation, and evaluation of trade-offs and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain semantic layer assets, including semantic models, Power BI report structures, and DAX measures, ensuring consistency and reusability across the firm.

  • Collaborate with the Data Strategy Program Manager to ensure the technical architecture supports roadmap priorities, data governance requirements, and desired business outcomes.

  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on support to data engineers and implementation teams, establishing coding standards, review practices, and reusable frameworks.

  • Partner with Information Governance and Security teams to implement data security, access controls, auditing, and compliance requirements within the Fabric ecosystem.

  • Evaluate and integrate supporting tools such as Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, lineage tracking, and governance enforcement.

  • Work directly with vendors and Microsoft partners to assess platform capabilities, align implementation approaches, and ensure high-quality delivery.

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality of all firm and client information.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of modern data architecture patterns, including Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), Data Vault, and dimensional modeling.

  • Knowledge of semantic layer development, including Power BI report design and DAX calculations.

  • Knowledge of Copilot in Fabric, including recommended capacity architecture, implementation considerations, and trade-off analysis.

  • Knowledge of data security, governance, lineage, and compliance within the Microsoft data ecosystem.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, well-documented technical architecture.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present architectural decisions and trade-offs to both technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ownership mindset, with the ability to lead technical delivery and independently drive results.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to identify issues, craft practical solutions, and resolve conflicts with sound business judgment.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, remain composed under pressure, and adapt to shifting demands.

  • Strong commitment to client service, ethical conduct, and firm values.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and work independently in a remote, hybrid, and in-office settings.

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.

  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Certification(s):

  • Microsoft Fabric certifications (DP-600, DP-700) are strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in data engineering or data platforms.

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience architecting and implementing solutions on Microsoft Fabric and/or its predecessor technologies (Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning).

  • Expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and the broader OneLake architecture.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including query optimization and complex analytical transformations.

  • Expertise with Azure Data Factory and/or Fabric Pipelines, including orchestration design, parameterization, and error handling patterns.
