Job description

As an employee-owned company, DMA prioritizes employees. Low turnover rates and tenured teams are living proof:
  • 2025 Great Places to Work Certified
  • Employee stock ownership program eligibility begins on day one of employment (ESOP contribution is targeted at 6% of your annual compensation)
  • Company paid parental leave
  • Generous time off package
  • Multiple benefit plans, eligibility begins on day one of employment
  • Culturally focused on work/life balance, and the overall wellness of our employees

This is a hybrid position with an expectation to be in our Fort Wayne, IN or Indianapolis, IN office a minimum of two days per week. This position does not qualify for relocation assistance. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position does not qualify for employment-based sponsorship.
Position Summary
The Workday Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical bridge between DMA's enterprise Workday platform and its proprietary property tax software ecosystem. Sitting within the Architecture & Innovation team, this role takes a platform-first, integration-centric approach to Workday - designing and delivering API-driven, standards-based integrations rather than purely functional configurations.
This is a hands-on mid-level role ideal for someone who thinks like a software engineer, speaks the language of enterprise HR/finance platforms, and thrives at the intersection of systems design and business enablement. You will collaborate with functional stakeholders, business analysts, and development squads to build integrations that are reliable, observable, and built to last.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Development
  • Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, SOAP/REST APIs, and Workday Extend.
  • Architect integration patterns (event-driven, batch, real-time) between Workday and DMA's .NET/PostgreSQL/Azure application stack.
  • Develop and own integration documentation including data flow diagrams, API contracts, and ADRs (Architecture Decision Records).
  • Evaluate and recommend middleware and iPaaS tooling (e.g., Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft) where appropriate.

Platform & Systems Collaboration
  • Partner with the Architecture & Innovation team to ensure Workday integrations align with DMA's broader platform strategy and AI/automation roadmap.
  • Collaborate with the Software Development and PMO teams to deliver integrations within established SDLC and governance frameworks.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Workday's technical platform: APIs, data model, security model, and release cycle.

Process Automation & Innovation
  • Identify and automate manual cross-system data flows between Workday and operational systems, reducing toil and error.
  • Contribute to AI and automation initiatives within the Architecture & Innovation team, including agentic workflow design where Workday data is a source or target.
  • Monitor Workday release notes, assess new platform capabilities, and proactively recommend adoption where ROI is clear.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a solutions engineering, integration engineering, or technical consulting role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Workday integrations (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, or REST/SOAP APIs).
  • Solid understanding of REST API design, JSON/XML data formats, OAuth 2.0, and web services fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; comfortable owning an integration problem end-to-end.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Experience integrating Workday with .NET or Azure-based systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with iPaaS or middleware platforms (Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, MuleSoft, Boomi) preferred.
  • Exposure to containerized deployment environments (Docker, Azure Container Apps) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git/GitLab) preferred.
  • Experience with observability tooling (logging, monitoring, alerting) for integration workstreams preferred.
  • Workday Pro certification in Integration, Studio, or a related track preferred.
