Job description

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to develop, design, modify, and approve electrical designs and bills of materials (BOMs). The ideal candidate will collaborate with clients and engineers to ensure projects are completed according to specifications and timelines. This role involves conducting research, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting equipment and systems, and designing and building prototypes as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design electrical systems and BOMs.
  • Liaise with clients and other engineers to ensure project specifications and timelines are met.
  • Conduct research and perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on equipment and systems.
  • Design and build prototypes as required in the development process.
  • Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team to ensure accuracy in meeting regulatory and client specifications.
  • Support and participate in cost estimation, scheduling, and project planning and execution.
  • Design oneline and threeline schematics.
  • Engage in PLC-based controls and SCADA programming.
  • Design DC power systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other industry-standard electrical codes.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in power generation and distribution design.
  • Experience in designing and building power generator equipment.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering and electrical design.
  • Experience with CAD, SolidWorks, ETAP, and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of turbine engines and components, power generation, distribution, and protective relay systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with medium and low voltage systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to adapt to different work settings, including shop and office environments.

Work Environment

The position is Monday through Friday, with time spent in both office and shop settings, depending on the design phase, which could last up to three weeks at a time. Engineers may manage 1-2 projects simultaneously and engage in client-facing interactions. Travel is minimal, less than 20%, and may occasionally require visits to West Texas due to increased demand for modular data centers. The role offers the opportunity to be involved in organic growth and the expansion of new product lines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $76.00 - $84.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
