Job description

Position Description & Qualifications As a Technical Publications Librarian, you will support the maintenance, organization, and control of technical documentation for a U.S. Navy MILSATCOM program in the Newport, Rhode Island area. You will work with engineers, logisticians, technical writers, and Government personnel to ensure technical manuals, training materials, reports, and other program documents are current, accurate, and easy to locate. The ideal candidate will have experience working with technical documentation, document control, configuration management, or similar logistics and administrative functions. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage large volumes of technical information using established processes and procedures. In this role, you will: * Update and revise technical documents to ensure current versions are available to personnel supporting system operation, maintenance, and sustainment.
* Maintain and organize technical manuals, engineering documents, logistics products, reports, procedures, training materials, and other program documentation.
* Support configuration and version control of technical publications, including document revisions, engineering changes, field changes, upgrades, and related updates.
* Manage program documentation stored on Government network drives, SharePoint sites, and other approved repositories.
* Maintain logical folder structures, file naming conventions, document indexes, and other controls that make technical information easier to find and use.
* Assist with the preparation, formatting, editing, and production of technical manuals, reports, procedures, guides, and other program documents.
* Support the development and maintenance of On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials, work instructions, reference guides, and training products.
* Coordinate with engineers, logisticians, technical writers, and subject matter experts to collect, update, and maintain technical information.
* Maintain document inventories, trackers, revision records, and status reports used to monitor technical data and program deliverables.
* Support the organization and maintenance of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) products and other Government-required deliverables.
* Review shared repositories to identify outdated, duplicate, superseded, or improperly stored files and support document cleanup and consolidation efforts.
* Support technical data calls, document reviews, audits, and requests for information as needed.To be successful in this role, you will have: * Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, * or a High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience.
* An active Secret Security Clearance
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
* Experience working with technical documentation, document control, records management, configuration management, logistics, or a related field.
* Experience organizing and maintaining files on shared network drives, SharePoint, or similar document-management systems.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while working with large volumes of technical information.
* Knowledge of computer databases, document repositories, and related logistics or documentation systems.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently while following established procedures and supporting a larger technical team.Additional desired experience and skills: * Previous experience supporting the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or another Federal Government organization.
* Experience supporting military communications, satellite communications, electronics, or other complex DoD systems.
* Familiarity with Navy technical manuals, engineering documentation, logistics products, or technical data packages.
* Familiarity with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Integrated Product Support (IPS), configuration management, or technical data management.
* Experience working with CDRLs or other Government technical deliverables.
* Experience developing or maintaining OJT materials, work instructions, standard operating procedures, or training documentation.
* Experience supporting document cleanup, data migration, repository consolidation, or technical library management.
