Job summary
The disaster recovery manager is responsible for leading and managing the organization's disaster recovery strategy to ensure business continuity across critical IT systems and infrastructure. This role focuses on designing, executing, testing, and continuously improving disaster recovery capabilities while aligning with business objectives, risk management, and compliance requirements.
Experience
8-12 years of experience in IT infrastructure and disaster recovery
5+ years of hands-on experience in disaster recovery planning, execution, and testing
Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the organization's disaster recovery strategy to ensure business continuity
  • Develop, maintain, and update disaster recovery plans aligned with business and compliance needs
  • Define and manage recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) for critical systems
  • Plan and lead disaster recovery drills, tabletop exercises, and full-scale failover tests
  • Document test results, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with IT operations, security, cloud, and business teams to align recovery strategies
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on disaster recovery processes and responsibilities
  • Monitor system resilience post-testing and recommend improvements

Required skills & experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud platforms
  • Deep understanding of backup and recovery technologies, replication strategies, and high-availability architectures
  • Experience with on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-based disaster recovery solutions
  • Proven ability to plan and execute disaster recovery testing and failover scenarios
  • Strong experience conducting risk assessments and vulnerability analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as ISO 22301 and NIST
  • Experience working with vendors and service providers for disaster recovery solutions
