Job description

Job Title: Crane Operator
Pay Rate: $36.45 per hour
Location: Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay
Contract Type: 90-day initial contract with the possibility of extension
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Crane Operator to support operations at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. This is a 90-day contract position with the potential for extension based on performance and mission requirements. The role involves operating a variety of cranes-including friction rigs (preferred)-to lift and move heavy materials and conduct weight testing. Operators must follow NAVSEA P-307 requirements and uphold a high standard of safety, compliance, and technical accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mobile, portal, bridge, fixed, and friction rig cranes to move materials and conduct weight testing.
  • Perform inspections, testing, greasing, adjusting, and emergency repairs on crane equipment.
  • Operate light and heavy trucks as required.
  • Follow NAVSEA P-307 requirements and internal safety protocols.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of professional crane operating experience (friction rig experience preferred).
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Must be able to obtain a government driver's license for the appropriate vehicle class.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NAVSEA P-307 requirements, including:
    • General Crane Safety
    • Category 1, 2, 3, and 4 Crane Safety
    • Rigging Practices 101
    • Gear Inspection
  • Must pass a company physical and annual DOT-compliant physical exam.
  • Must wear ASTM F2413-05 compliant hard-toed safety shoes at all times.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government security clearance to access all areas of the Naval Submarine Base.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking: Moderate
  • Standing: Occasional
  • Climbing: Up to 150 feet to access crane operation areas
  • Lifting: Up to 50 pounds
  • PPE: Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times
