Cook Manager

Windom Area Elementary
7.5 Hours/Day

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring the preparation, planning, and serving of the school meal programs.
  • Provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of the program within the school building.
  • Demonstrate the leadership skills necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the food service program at the building level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:ย 

  • Be knowledgeable in all areas of food production including the ordering, preparing, serving techniques, inventory procedures, time and temperature control of food and equipment that meet the Child Nutrition Regulations created by MDE, U.S.D.A., and HACCP
  • Responsible for ordering and preparing a sufficient quantity of food products to provide meals to students and staff while minimizing waste.
  • Responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and a la carte meals.
  • Complete food production records, meal counts, and temperature and sanitizer sheets. Responsible for post-meal recordkeeping, including food products used and leftover food, as well as the proper storage of leftovers.
  • Assist with Food Service Department

JOB REQUIREMENTS:ย 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years of experience in a school food service program preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a job-related field
  • Minnesota Dept. of Health Certified Food Protection Manager Certification or ability to obtain.

SALARY RANGE:

  • Union contract hourly range based on education, experience, and qualifications: $18.51 - $22.31
    • The following hourly range is based on the 2025-2026 school year union contract; these amounts will be subject to change/increase once the new contract is settled.
