Job description

Job Title: Conveyor Mechanic

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing conveyor systems and related industrial equipment in a highly automated material-handling environment. You will ensure that conveyors and associated electrical and mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on conveyor systems and related mechanical and electrical equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, drives, motors, and associated components.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Support PLC troubleshooting activities and assist with PLC programming changes related to conveyor operation.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair 3-phase electrical systems, relays, conduit, and other industrial electrical components.
  • Use mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on industrial packaging and material-handling equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints to guide maintenance and repair work.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with site procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices while working on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and site personnel to coordinate repairs and minimize impact on operations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience as a conveyor mechanic or maintenance technician working on conveyor systems in an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyor maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including working with 3-phase power, relays, and industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic in an industrial setting.
  • Practical skills in mechanical repair, including bearings, rollers, chains, belts, and drives.
  • Experience with pneumatics and related industrial components.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and follow structured maintenance schedules.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Capability to perform medium to heavy physical work, including frequent standing, climbing, kneeling, and lifting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PLC programming concepts related to conveyor and material-handling systems.
  • Experience working with industrial packaging and automated material-handling equipment.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance within a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial facility with both indoor and outdoor working conditions. The role requires frequent standing, climbing, kneeling, and lifting at medium to heavy work levels. Shifts are fixed and include: Monday–Friday, 5:00 pm–2:00 am; Sunday–Wednesday, 3:30 pm–2:00 am; and Wednesday–Saturday, 3:30 pm–2:00 am. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and centered on maintaining and improving automated material-handling systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
