Project Controls Specialist
Location:  Wilsonville, AL 35186
Contract- 1 Year
Client- Southern Company
Position Overview

The Project Controls Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that complex projects are executed efficiently and effectively within defined cost, schedule, and performance objectives. This position requires strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills to develop and maintain project control systems, monitor performance, and support project decision-making processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project control strategies, procedures, and frameworks to support cost, schedule, and performance management.

  • Track and analyze project schedules, resource allocations, and expenditures to ensure alignment with baseline plans.

  • Perform cost forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting for multiple ongoing projects.

  • Identify potential risks and performance gaps, and collaborate with project managers to develop mitigation and recovery plans.

  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project control reports and dashboards for senior leadership and key stakeholders.

  • Support the development of budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules in coordination with engineering and finance teams.

  • Maintain project documentation, including change management logs, risk registers, and performance records.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior project control staff in best practices and analytical methods.

  • Ensure all project control activities comply with corporate standards, policies, and procedures.


Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field required.

    • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 5–10 years of experience in project controls, cost management, or scheduling in engineering, construction, or energy industries.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project management software.

    • Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including use of Excel (advanced), Power BI, and database tools.

    • Experience in cost estimating, earned value management (EVM), and risk analysis.
