Position Summary The Strategic Procurement Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement strategies of materials and services required for the design, manufacture, and delivery of modular construction projects.
This role will work closely with engineering, operations, and project management teams to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement of supplies. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a keen eye for cost savings opportunities, and the ability to build and maintain strategic supplier relationships. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for materials, components, and services required across multiple projects, ensuring cost optimization and quality.
Supplier Management: Establish, evaluate, and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, lead times, and prices while ensuring consistency in quality and performance. Cost Management: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and reducing risk exposure. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure procurement processes align with project timelines, budgets, and specifications.
Market Analysis & Forecasting: Stay updated on market trends, supply chain disruptions, and emerging suppliers to forecast material needs and negotiate forward-thinking agreements. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities comply with industry standards, legal regulations, and company policies. Actively manage supplier risks and mitigate any potential disruptions to supply chain operations.
Budgeting & Reporting: Develop and track procurement budgets for all projects, providing regular reports to senior leadership on savings, procurement performance, and supplier performance. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvements in procurement processes, identifying and implementing best practices, tools, and technology to enhance overall procurement efficiency. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master's or certifications such as CIPS, CPSM preferred).
5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement management, with a focus on construction, manufacturing, or related industries. Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing complex supplier relationships. Strong knowledge of procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple competing priorities. Knowledge of procurement best practices, contract law, and vendor management.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in modular construction or prefabricated building materials. Understanding of the construction industry supply chain, including long lead-time materials.
Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and green procurement practices.
