Maritime Decarbonisation- Senior Projects Manager

About the Role:

Accountable for the project management, performance, delivery and safety of projects within the Maritime Emissions Reduction Centre in the area of shipping energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

The Role 

  • Oversee projects from inception to completion: Manage the timely delivery of projects in the area of maritime decarbonisation relevant to MERC’s objectives.
  • Ensure the projects of responsibility are aligned with MERC’s strategy and annual business plans.
  • Accountable for all aspects of assigned MERC projects management, performance, delivery and safety to deliver project deliverables and meet scope, quality, time and budget constraints, while complying with the relevant processes and governance.
  • Manage the interface with the MERC partners project organisation to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a project in line with the commercial, contractual and financial requirements of the contract.
  • Conducting regular project and contract reviews and regularly report project status both internally for management and externally for MERC members and as required under the terms of contracts concluding with formal project close out.
  • Present project results at external meetings and conferences.
  • Remain current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to shipping decarbonisation:
    • monitor, support and contribute to the evolution of MERC’s portfolio of projects.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders relevant to shipping decarbonisation and energy efficiency, and identify opportunities for MERC’s projects.

 

What you bring

  • Have an engineering degree from a recognised university. Postgraduate education from a recognised university will be an adavantage.
  • Be experienced in programme management processes with experience in dealing and delivering medium to high-complexity and medium to high-risk projects with key clients and multidiscipline teams in the maritime decarbonisation area.
  • Have relevant experience working in the marine industry either in a commercial or technical capacity, including more than 5 years’ experience in energy efficiency technologies for existing seagoing vessels.
  • Have demonstrated experience and knowledge of effective and timely management of budgets and financial processes including budget setting, prioritising, delegating and monitoring of resources and project activities.
  • Have good understanding of AI developments and be literate in AI solutions that support the role and MERC’s objectives.
  • Have highly effective technical writing and communication skills in the English language, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Be responsive to changing priorities and well organised with a practical minded approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have good collaboration skills to work with teams across the collaborating organisations.
