Job description

Overview:

The Baseball Senior Sponsorship Account Executive is responsible for generating revenue through sponsorship and ticket sales while managing high-value corporate partnerships for the Durham Bulls. This role plays a critical part in supporting the teamโ€™s business objectives by identifying and securing sponsorship and ticketing opportunities and ensuring flawless activation and client satisfaction. Success in this role is demonstrated by meeting or exceeding sales goals, strengthening client relationships, and executing deliverables with excellence. This position collaborates closely with game day operations, ticketing, and marketing to bring sponsor campaigns and fan engagement initiatives to life.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Sponsorship and Ticket Sales / Account Management:
  • Identify, research, and solicit new sponsorship and ticket sales opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective sponsors, season ticket holders, and group sales clients.
  • Create and deliver compelling sponsorship and ticket sales proposals and presentations.
  • Negotiate and close sponsorship agreements and ticket sales packages, ensuring all contractual elements are fulfilled.
  • Meet or exceed established sales revenue goals through outbound calls, meetings, networking, and prospecting efforts.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and provide ongoing support and customer service.
  • Collaborate with marketing, ticketing, operations, and production teams to ensure seamless execution of sponsorship elements and ticket-related initiatives.
  • Assist with the renewal and retention of existing ticket and sponsorship accounts.
Game Day Duties:
  • Execute and oversee sponsor activations and in-game promotions.
  • Serve as a liaison for sponsors and premium ticket clients on game days, ensuring a positive and engaging experience.
  • Assist with game day operations as needed, including pulling the tarp during inclement weather.
Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, sponsorship contracts, ticket accounts, and deliverables.
  • Attend team functions and community events to build and maintain sponsor, client, and community relationships.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in sponsorship sales, ticket sales, and sports marketing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonably related to the job responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience required, preferably in sports sponsorship, ticket sales, media, or a related industry.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to assist with game day duties such as pulling the tarp.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and presentations clearly and persuasively.
  • Comfortable communicating with a wide range of individuals and stakeholders.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Basic math skills required for creating proposals and tracking sales performance.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to assess opportunities, resolve problems, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce or similar) is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in professional or collegiate sports environments.
  • Familiarity with the Durham Bulls brand and market.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or proposal-building software.
  • Familiarity with local and regional sponsorship landscapes.
  • Experience activating and evaluating sponsor campaigns.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods during games and events.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to pull and maneuver tarp during inclement weather.
  • Frequent walking, pushing/pulling, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Clear vision and hearing required for game day execution and client communication.
Work Conditions:
  • Primarily works on-site at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and outdoor stadium settings.
  • Regularly exposed to extreme heat and variable weather during baseball season.
  • Must be available for shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasional local travel for meetings and networking events.
