Position: DataOps Engineer
Location: Erie, PA
Work Arrangement: Day 1 Onsite
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary:

Our client is looking for a highly skilled DataOps Engineer to build, automate, monitor, and continuously improve enterprise data platforms. The role involves working closely with Data Engineering, BI, Cloud Engineering, and other technology teams to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient data operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, operate, automate, and monitor enterprise data platforms.
  • Design and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines, including orchestration, scheduling, and CI/CD.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, health checks, SLA/SLO tracking, and data observability.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, lead incident response, and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Manage releases, deployments, automated testing, rollbacks, and performance tuning.
  • Develop reusable data engineering frameworks, patterns, and standards.
  • Work with managed service providers and ensure delivery against contractual SLAs.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and BI teams to improve data product reliability and quality.
  • Monitor and optimize AWS cloud costs using FinOps best practices.
  • Apply security standards across data pipelines and AWS infrastructure.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS
  • AWS EC2, EKS, S3, Glue, Lambda
  • Python, PySpark, and SQL
  • ETL/ELT and data pipeline automation
  • Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation
  • CI/CD
  • DataOps and Data Platform operations
  • Medallion Architecture / Data Lake / Lakehouse
  • Monitoring, observability, logging, incident management, and RCA
  • Strong understanding of XML processing/handling
  • AWS IAM and cloud security best practices

Preferred:

  • P&C Insurance industry experience
  • Databricks experience
  • FinOps / AWS cost optimization
  • Experience developing reusable data engineering frameworks
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Codex
