JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Business Development Manager will be to accelerate sales and growth in their territory (Arizona), developing and executing strategies to attract new clients through networking, cold-calling, and other outreach methods. The individual in this position will work closely with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, customer support) to align efforts and improve offerings and will also support and service key accounts.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform strategy.

  • Accelerate sales and grow the area, developing and executing strategies to attract new clients through networking, cold calling, and other outreach methods. Work with marketing on desired literature to help support verticals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and prospects to foster long-term partnerships.

  • Prepare and present tailored proposals and pitches to potential clients, showcasing the Company’s products or services, illustrating who we are as a Company and what makes us unique.

  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients to meet margin requirements, ensuring both parties are satisfied with the terms.

  • Monitor sales metrics and performance, providing regular reports and insights to management utilizing the ERP system and other weekly reporting methods.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, customer support) to align efforts and improve offerings (i.e. by presenting findings and attending sales roll up calls with team members to support progress).

  • Support and service key accounts.

  • Mentor and support team members.

  • Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Five (5) years of experience in technical sales/service in the industrial water treatment or specialty chemicals industry

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills with expertise in closing deals

  • Strong analytical thinking ability

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn internal business systems

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and exhibit leadership skills

  • Ability to work independently and without supervision; effectively plan, organize and execute activities

  • Hold valid driver’s license and abide by company standards for operating motor vehicle

  • Ability to physically provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to fulfill above job duties (up to 20% overnight travel will be required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study

  • Previous experience in a business development or related role

  • Six (6) plus years of experience in technical sales/service in the industrial water treatment or specialty chemicals industry

  • Possession of a current Certified Water Technologist (CWT) certificate
