Your New Role...
This position reports to the Content Transmission Manager and is responsible for the supervision and direct leadership for Content Transmission Specialists in a 24x7x365 live production environment. This position will also assist with decisions related to hiring and onboarding. They will manage team performance, customer relationships and oversee the daily operations and provide support during special projects/high-profile events and all associated transmissions and on-air quality control for the department as it relates to providing relevant services across News, Sports, and Entertainment.
This position requires extensive knowledge of transmission formats over satellite, fiber, and IP. An understanding of Warner Bros. Discovery engineering infrastructure associated internal/external clients, and vendor services across CNN bureaus, affiliates, remote locations, and processes used for planned events and breaking news is required as well.
The Content Transmission Supervisor must also be proficient in the current Scheduling System(s) used for provisioning transmissions, cost accruals and billing, working closely with Business Administration on billing, reconciliation of disputes and discrepancies. The supervisor will manage relationships between staff, clients, and vendors and be responsible for onboarding new services.
The Content Transmission Supervisor will review and update onboarding, training, staff scheduling and standard operating procedure (SOP) documents. This position is accountable for the performance of individuals with regular check-ins, the overall performance of the shift, and ultimately the performance of the department in supporting On-Air activities.
Candidate must be able to work under constantly changing pressure levels and flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as this is a 365/24/7 critical position to support the business.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Operational and Technical Execution
  • Oversee, engage in, and be a subject matter expert of the daily operations of Content Transmission staff.
  • Address any technical, operational or team issues.
  • Work with management to scale resources to meet demand.
  • Work with customers to fulfill transmission requests, work intake, budgeting, provisioning, and processing.

Leadership, Hiring, and Professional Development
  • Interviewing and hiring in tandem with the Manager for open team positions.
  • Creating and updating the scheduling of team members to ensure adequate coverage for each of the responsibility areas.
  • Manage and approve time off and leave.
  • Develop metrics to measure and report shift/team performance to the leadership team.
  • Develop creative ways to implement workflow changes to gain efficiency while engaging the team.
  • Ensure that Knowledge (i.e., processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, etc.) is developed and maintained to support the roles of each responsibility area.
  • Develop technical staff members by providing training and developmental opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate departmental goals and directives to staff members.
  • Engage Partners to identify other support opportunities that can be handled by the technical staff.
  • Provide high level Project Management oversight to staff members engaged in project activities.
  • Participate in setting yearly performance plan and guidelines for staff, as well as executing the performance rollout and all performance reviews.
  • Manage employee performance and corrective action plans as needed.

Qualifications & Experiences...
  • 5+ years' experience in Broadcast TV transmissions and live remote events
  • Extensive knowledge of transmission systems, technologies and providers
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Experience in contract negotiations and budget preparation
  • Ability to create technical drawings for transmission systems
  • Effective communicator with Senior Executives, Clients and Vendor
  • College Degree and Communications or Technical concentration preferred

Not Required but preferred experience:
  • Technical field experience with remote transmissions and systems
  • TV Engineering knowledge, background or experience
