LAPHAM COMMUNITY CENTER PROGRAM MANAGER

The Town of New Canaan is seeking a dynamic, empathetic, and community‑minded professional to serve as Program Manager for the Lapham Community Center. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this role is central to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and responsive environment for older adults and the broader community.

The Program Manager oversees program development and enrollment, volunteer coordination, and the creation of social media, newsletter, and press content. The role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Constant Contact, and comfort learning and working in the MyRec registration system.

This position calls for someone who is flexible, able to change direction quickly, and comfortable managing frequent interruptions, in‑person requests, and competing priorities. The Program Manager exercises independent judgment to administer programs efficiently while continuously improving operations.

A key focus is the development of person‑centered, responsive programming that reflects the evolving needs of the community. We are seeking a naturally curious, forward‑thinking professional who values collaboration, seeks innovative ideas and partnerships, and approaches their work with empathy, adaptability, and a strong commitment to service.

Minimum Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW), Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, Social Services, or a closely related field, combined with 3–5 years of related experience working with adults; or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and training.

Special Requirements

  • CPR and AED Certifications required within 6 months of employment
