Job description

## Director, Content ProductionApplylocations: Remote - NC: Remote USAtime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: R15377Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.**Position Summary:**The **Director, Content Hub & Studio** is an enterprise marketing leadership role responsible for the creative quality and operational scaling of athenahealth's centralized Content Studio. This leader sets the bar for craft and execution across the studio, reviewing, editing, and elevating work before it goes out the door, while also building the production model, governance, and systems that let the team deliver that quality at scale.Reporting to the Executive Director, Creative & Content, this role partners closely with Brand, Editorial & Content Strategy, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Customer Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Operations, Sales Enablement, Corporate Communications, Legal, Privacy, IT, Procurement, and external agency partners to raise the level of work coming out of the studio while improving speed to market, content reuse, and operational efficiency. This position requires both a sharp creative eye and the operational rigor to scale it: someone who can sit in a review, push a piece of work from good to great, and also build the systems that make that standard repeatable. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in content creation for B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, enterprise software, or similarly complex marketing organizations, with a track record of raising creative quality across a team's output.Editorial strategy, messaging, and content planning are owned by the Editorial & Content Strategy function. This role owns the execution: the craft, review, and delivery quality that turns strategy into finished work, plus the production systems that support it.**Essential Job Responsibilities:*** Serve as the quality gatekeeper for the Content Studio, reviewing and editing work before it moves forward to Brand, Editorial, or other stakeholders for final approval.* Push the team's execution to a consistently higher standard: catch weak work, sharpen rough drafts, and send work back until it meets the bar.* Set and maintain creative standards for tone, craft, and polish across all content produced by the studio, in alignment with brand guidelines.* Provide hands on editing and constructive feedback on copy, design, and other deliverables, modeling the level of quality expected from the team.* Coach and develop the creative judgment of content creators and freelancers, building their editing and craft skills over time, not just their throughput.* Identify recurring quality gaps across the studio and address them through training, tighter feedback loops, or changes to workflow.* Define and operationalize the enterprise Content Hub strategy, establishing scalable frameworks for content production, reuse, modular assembly, and omnichannel distribution.* Lead the evolution of the content supply chain with a focus on speed, quality, modularity, and AI enabled production.* Oversee production workflows across web, email, social, paid media, campaigns, customer marketing, product marketing, sales enablement, and events.* Establish intake models, prioritization frameworks, resource planning, and capacity management for the studio.* Establish review and approval workflows in partnership with Brand, Editorial & Content Strategy, Legal, and Privacy that balance creative quality, speed, and compliance.* Own administration of enterprise content libraries, including taxonomy, metadata standards, and content lifecycle management.* Ensure content libraries support tagging, version control, archiving, and retirement, in partnership with Marketing Operations and IT.**Additional Job Responsibilities:*** Manage relationships with external agencies and production partners, holding them to the same creative bar as internal work.* Set and enforce delivery quality, timelines, and budget standards for agency produced work.* Partner with Procurement and Finance to optimize agency strategy and spend.* Define Content Hub KPIs and scorecards that measure creative quality alongside speed to market, production cycle times, and operational efficiency.* Establish reporting that communicates both quality trends and operational performance to Marketing leadership.* Lead, coach, and develop a high performing Content Hub organization, with a strong emphasis on raising the team's creative and editorial skill over time.* Foster a culture where craft and quality are treated as non-negotiable, alongside speed and efficiency.* Champion organizational change and adoption across a complex, matrixed marketing organization.**Expected Education & Experience:*** Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, English, Journalism, or a related field required.* MBA or advanced degree preferred.* 10+ years of progressive experience in content production, creative operations, editorial, or content management, with direct experience reviewing and editing creative or written work.* At least 3 years leading multidisciplinary creative or content teams in enterprise scale marketing organizations.* Proven track record of raising the quality bar for a team's creative output, through editing, coaching, or direct creative leadership, not just managing operations.* Experience in B2B SaaS, healthcare technology, enterprise software, or similarly complex organizations preferred.* Sharp eye for copy and content craft, with the ability to give specific, actionable feedback that improves the work.* Strong understanding of brand voice, tone, and visual standards, and the judgment to know when work meets the bar and when it doesn't.* Comfortable pushing back on work, including from senior stakeholders or agencies, when quality falls short.* Hands on experience with DAM, CMS, Adobe Experience Manager or similar platforms, Adobe Creative Cloud workflows, and marketing automation platforms.* Understanding of AI enabled content operations, modular content strategies, and content reuse.* Experience managing operating budgets for content production and agency partners with measurable ROI.* Strong cross functional collaboration skills, including partnering with Brand, Editorial, Product Marketing, Legal, Privacy, IT, and executive leadership.* Excellent executive communication and organizational change leadership.***Expected Compensation***$137,000 - $233,000*The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.****About athenahealth******Our vision:*** *In an industry that becomes more complex by the day, we stand for simplicity.
