Content Editor & Documentation Specialist

Strategic Employment

Irvine, CA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 14 days ago

Job description

An established software company is seeking a Content Editor & Documentation Specialist to own editorial quality across the organization.

This individual will be the primary editor and proofreader for customer-facing content, splitting time evenly between polishing what others write and producing original technical documentation. This is a newly created, dedicated content seat - not an add-on to a broader marketing role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Edit and maintain website content, product documentation, newsletters, and customer communications
  • Write original technical and product documentation, including release notes and help content
  • Coordinate with marketing and engineering to preserve technical accuracy
  • Maintain editorial standards for grammar, style, and branding across all published materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of dedicated editing, writing, or technical documentation experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong independent research and systematic problem-solving ability
  • Comfort splitting time between editing (about half) and original writing (about half)
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CMS platforms, or HR/compensation subject matter is a plus

WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY

  • Own editorial quality at an established, 35+ year old company with no existing playbook
  • Build the content standards from scratch as the second hire in a growing function
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing and engineering, not in a single-team silo
