JOB PURPOSE

The Digital Content & Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating and managing engaging digital content that supports The York School’s brand, community engagement, and student recruitment. The role is primarily focused on day-to-day social media, photography, video, and digital storytelling. The Specialist also supports the execution of local marketing initiatives, including researching opportunities and coordinating placements within the community.


Given the dynamic and collaborative nature of our school environment, this role is an on-site position requiring to be in the office five days a week. Candidates should be prepared to contribute actively to this in-person, community-focused environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, curate, and publish engaging digital content across platforms (social media, website, video, photography) that reflects The York School’s values and student experience

  • Manage social media channels, including content planning, posting, and community engagement

  • Capture and produce photo and video content to support storytelling, campaigns, and school initiatives

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content and highlight programs, events, and student life

  • Monitor performance metrics and recommend adjustments to improve engagement and reach

  • Partner closely with the Admissions team to develop creative and compelling content in support of student recruitment cycles

  • Support the planning and execution of digital campaigns leading into key events (e.g., Open Houses)

  • Contribute to the development of campaign concepts and content, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery

  • In collaboration with the Director, support the execution of local marketing initiatives, including identifying and assessing advertising opportunities within the local community

  • Conduct outreach to local organizations and businesses (e.g., community centres, arenas, local venues) to explore and coordinate marketing placements

  • Coordinate logistics for booked advertising (timelines, specifications, vendor communication), ensuring alignment with campaign needs

  • Support the preparation and organization of marketing activities in advance of peak recruitment periods


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in digital content creation, social media management, or a similar role

  • Demonstrated strength in photography, videography, and digital content production

  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging, audience-focused content

  • Experience supporting marketing campaigns or working with admissions/recruitment functions considered an asset

  • Familiarity with paid advertising and media buying considered an asset

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Canva, Hootsuite, and website platforms (e.g., Squarespace)

  • Familiarity with web design principles and basic HTML/CSS to support website updates

  • Experience with AI-powered editing tools and generative AI for content creation considered a strong asset

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

WORKING REQUIREMENTS

WHAT WE OFFER

The target hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $88,000 annually. Placement within the range is determined by job-related skills, experience and education.
