Director, Brand & Content Strategy

The Altus Group

Full-time

Job description

Compensation Range:

$180-$195K

Compensation Disclaimer:
The salary range listed reflects the base pay for this role at Altus Group and is provided where required by local regulations. Actual offers may differ based on experience, market conditions, and other relevant factors. The range does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives.

Who We Need

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing Communications, we are hiring a Director, Brand & Content Strategy to lead the development and execution of Altus Group's global brand narrative and content strategy. As our new Director, Brand & Content Strategy, you will shape how we tell the Altus story across markets, audiences, and channels, connecting our corporate brand with our product strategy, proprietary data, industry expertise, and market insights. You will set the strategic direction for brand positioning and content while remaining close to execution, guiding editorial decisions, strengthening the processes and measures behind our content ecosystem, and partnering across Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, PR, Research, Sales, and subject matter experts to deliver relevant, differentiated storytelling globally.

This is a remote-first role with a preference for candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area. You will work remotely with in-person collaboration at our Toronto office as needed.

What's in it for you

Ownership and influence. You will have the opportunity to shape how Altus Group tells its story globally at a pivotal point in the evolution of its brand and marketing strategy. With significant ownership over brand narrative and content strategy, you will have the freedom to bring forward new ideas, establish stronger processes and measures, and influence how the function evolves. You will also help shape and develop a lean team, creating the structure and capabilities needed to deliver against the strategy.

Visibility and partnership. This is a highly collaborative role with exposure across the organization. You will work closely with Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, PR, Research, Sales, subject matter experts, and executive leaders, connecting product strategy, proprietary data, market insights, and corporate priorities into a cohesive global story. You will have the opportunity to influence how Altus Group shows up across markets while adapting that story for different audiences, regions, and channels.

Creative and strategic impact. Altus Group has been through significant transformation, creating an opportunity to rethink how brand and content contribute to the business. You will have room to challenge existing approaches, define more meaningful measures of success, and explore how shifts in search, AI, social media, and content consumption should influence the strategy. While this is a Director-level role setting the longer-term direction, you will remain close enough to the work to see your ideas move from strategy through execution and measure their impact.

As our new Director of Brand and Content Strategy, you will:

Shape the global brand narrative. You will define and evolve Altus Group's brand positioning, category narrative, value proposition, tone of voice, and messaging architecture. You will bring together corporate priorities, product strategy, proprietary data, market insights, and industry expertise to create a clear and differentiated story that can be applied consistently across global markets.

Lead the content strategy. You will develop and execute an integrated global content strategy and editorial plan aligned with business priorities, campaigns, customer personas, and regional needs. You will determine where and how Altus Group's stories should come to life across digital, social, email, multimedia, events, and emerging channels to build awareness, engagement, demand, and loyalty.

Turn expertise and insights into compelling stories. You will partner with Product Marketing, Research, PR, Sales, and subject matter experts to uncover the ideas and insights that differentiate Altus Group. You will connect product and corporate storytelling, translating complex information into relevant narratives for different audiences and markets.

Set the standard for content. You will provide strategic and editorial direction across content created by your team, internal contributors, and external partners. You will review and edit work with a strong eye for clarity, quality, brand consistency, and reputational risk, ensuring content reflects Altus Group's voice and supports the broader business strategy.

Build a scalable content engine. You will establish the workflows, governance, tools, and processes needed to move content effectively from idea through development, approval, production, and distribution. You will manage the content marketing budget, balance priorities and resources, and identify opportunities to improve how the team operates as the function evolves.

Measure and evolve the strategy. You will define meaningful brand and content KPIs and use performance data to understand what is resonating and where the strategy needs to change. You will bring a forward-looking perspective to evolving areas such as AI, AEO, search, social platforms, and changing content behaviours, using insights to continually strengthen performance.

Lead and influence. You will lead and develop the Brand and Content team while building strong partnerships across a matrixed global organization. You will bring recommendations and strategic narratives to senior and executive leaders, create alignment across stakeholders, and help teams translate the global strategy into relevant execution across regions.

You bring:

The brand and content leadership. You have led brand and content strategy in a complex organization, ideally within a B2B, SaaS, technology, data-driven, or similarly evolving environment. You know how to build a differentiated narrative, translate strategy into compelling storytelling, and create consistency across audiences, markets, and channels.

The editorial judgment. You are a strong writer and editor with a sharp eye for what makes a story clear, relevant, and credible. You can take complex ideas, product positioning, proprietary data, and subject matter expertise and turn them into accessible narratives. You are equally comfortable shaping the story from the outset and providing thoughtful, decisive feedback on work created by others.

The strategic and analytical mindset. You can connect brand and content decisions to broader business priorities and use data to determine what is working. You have experience defining meaningful KPIs, interpreting content and channel performance, and using insights to evolve strategy. You understand how shifts in search, AI, social media, and content consumption are changing how organizations reach and engage audiences.

The leadership. You have experience leading and developing people while setting direction, creating clarity, and empowering others to do their best work. You can balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, stepping into the details when needed while continuing to move longer-term priorities forward.

The cross-functional influence. You know how to build trusted relationships across Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, PR, Research, Sales, subject matter experts, and senior leadership. You bring the executive presence and judgment to communicate recommendations, navigate competing perspectives, and create alignment without relying on authority alone.

The operational rigour. You can turn strategy into an effective content operation. You have experience establishing workflows, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders, overseeing budgets and external resources, and using content management and performance tools to bring greater visibility, consistency, and accountability to the work.

Nice to Have

You may have experience working in a B2B, SaaS, technology, data-driven, or global organization, giving you an understanding of how to build relevant narratives for complex products and audiences. Exposure to brand perception research, evolving approaches to search and AEO, AI-enabled content, or content management and performance platforms would be an asset.
