Position Summary
The Logos Student Newspaper Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) helps the editor and assistant editor, in producing The Logos, the student-run digital newspaper. The Logos Student Newspaper Multimedia Journalist reports to the Faculty Advisor for The Logos.
This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired
through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment.
Essential Functions
  • Identify newsworthy events and story ideas.
  • Gather information through research, observation, and interviews.
  • Write news stories, features, and articles for various formats.
  • Edit and proofread content for grammar, accuracy, and style.
  • Conduct interviews, research, and write news stories, features, and other content for different platforms.
  • Produce, edit, and manage audio, video, and photographic content.
  • Assist in production of the newspaper.

Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Multimedia journalist should have good grammar skills, know Associated Press style, and have good photography skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
  • Be a full-time UIW student during the 2026-27 academic year
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5, with a 3.0 in the major discipline
  • Be at least a sophomore (exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the Board)

Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to students with previous high school or college journalistic experience (newspaper, yearbook, magazine, anthology, broadcasting class, website, etc.)
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Work Hours
Up to twenty hours per week based on student availability.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
