Job description

To direct and promote continuous improvement and best practices in all aspects of Distribution Operations, under the direction of the Distribution Operations Manager. Support Air & Ocean Container Freight Station (CFS), Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), Distribution, Crossborder and all Interdepartmental Distribution Operations. This is achieved through meeting internal company Key Performance Indexes (KPIs), exceeding customer's service expectations, all the while operating in a safe and company compliant manner.
  • To plan, organize and control the input, movement, process/sort, and output of the operations to ensure a high level of service and quality at a minimal cost.
  • Responsible for selecting, training, and developing a staff of 1 to 15 direct reports.
  • Makes professional recommendations to management regarding continuous constructive work-related activities that would further enhance or improve workflow production and results.
  • Directly involved in the implementation of FedEx Trade Networks standard operating procedures (SOP), working with associates to insure that these standards are being maintained throughout the department/facility.
  • Assist in staff development through daily desk level oversight and hands on training efforts.
  • Communicates serious client problems, freight movement delays or misroutes to management immediately upon awareness.
  • Develops/reviews cost for all Distribution Operational activities.
  • Advise management of safety issues or equipment/building concerns.
  • Maintains contact with customers (internal and external) with regard to conditions affecting the service level of area served.
  • Responsible for operations of the air export gateway in the absence of the gateway manager. Ensure that all carrier allocations are maintained. ( site specific )
  • Oversees movement and activities of all related products to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Work closely with distribution management and staff to ensure that all cargo is handled, screened and processed properly and that all carrier lockouts are met. (site specific)
  • Conducts meetings to provide employees with daily information regarding division/operation, health and safety awareness; and applies consistent administration of disciplinary procedures
  • Maintains accurately all required inventory/reports/paperwork, payroll, performance reviews, and personal record statistics through established paperwork guidelines.
  • Ensures cost effectiveness of operations through established control of equipment, utilities and supplies
  • Assists with the safety and security of the distribution inventory and safety of associates by complying with all related government regulations including: OSHA, state and local fire department, US DOT, hazardous materials, Customs Border Patrol and Homeland Security regulations.
  • Assists safety methods and programs are implemented and maintained. Instructs employees with/on methods to instill a service-conscious attitude, and minimize service failures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum 2 year associates or college degree preferred/equivalent in business.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience In business experience in Distribution, Warehousing, Shipping, or International Freight Forwarding, or Transportation Industry
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and familiarity of various International and Domestic Distribution Operational activities
  • Minimum 1 year leadership role required.
  • Strong basic management, human relations, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • General knowledge of safety awareness within an operational division
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. regularly and to maneuver any package with appropriate equipment.
  • Knowledge in WMS-EDI within Distribution industry
  • Certified on all Machine Handling Equipment (MHEs) within the facility. This includes forklifts, yard hostler, pickers and reach-trucks, both propane and electric, and to operate these in a safe and compliant manor
  • TSA Certified to operate within a CCSF if applicable
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and familiarity of all aspects of CFS and FTZ Operations (site specific) preferred
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and familiarity of IATA, IMDG and 49CFR DG Regulations preferred

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in sales and in 3rd Party Warehouse Management. Experience with Savannah Ocean Ports is preferred.
Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
Pay: 4,720.84 - 9,196.37 USD Monthly
Additional Details: Typical day shift hours would be 8am to 5pm but may vary based on business needs.
