We are the premier provider in the transportation and transloading of bulk commodities. Our Customers are leaders in their fields of Electric Vehicles, Space, Food, Alcohol and Medical Care.

Our Chemical Loaders transload (transfer) hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals from railcar to tanker truck.ย  Your role will be to facilitate this process by collaborating with our Transportation Department and other Transportation Carriers.ย  The role requires strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transloading transactions, critical thinking and extreme safety consciousness.ย

Ventura Transfer Company provides tank truck transportation, transloading, tank washing, and ISO tank container depot services to high profile customers in the Electric Vehicle, Space, food and alcohol, and medical industries.ย  As an integral part of the supply chain, we directly impact several consumer goods, such as paint, fuel additives, upholstery, insulation, respirators, food, alcohol, sanitizers and much more.ย  Founded in 1869, we have more than 150 years of experience and we are the acknowledged industry leader throughout the Western United States.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Use VTC equipment to transload liquid products from rail cars to tank trucks and shipping containers.
  • Complete loads on time, accurately, and on schedule
  • Operate equipment such as pick up trucks, boilers, and compressors.
  • Maintain inventory of loading equipment, such as fittings, compressors, and pumps, keeping it clean and in good order. Schedule maintenance for equipment as needed.
  • Follow all SOPs and work order instructions to make sure loads are completed correctly and safely without contamination, spills, or other incidents.
  • Use various measuring equipment to load correct volumes.
  • Read and interpret paperwork, such as load orders, accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records of work and transmit records to corporate office for billing and accounting purposes.
  • Communicate work schedules with other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
  • Extremely accurate and detail oriented. Does not overlook things and make errors. Able to read and interpret complex paperwork and other data, such as chemical names, order numbers, and rail car numbers.
  • Doesnโ€™t forget things. Able to multi-task, tracking several activities at once.
  • Able to handle shifting priorities and constantly changing conditions.
  • Able to work effectively on flexible and varying work schedules.
  • Team player. Able to get along well with coworkers, drivers, and supervisors. Able to settle disagreements professionally and productively.
  • Operates with a Safety Orientation. Uses all protective equipment all the time, follows SOPโ€™s, and manages risks so that incidents are prevented.
  • High energy level and high level of initiative. Takes the lead in making improvements to the operation and in getting things fixed as they break down.
  • Mechanical ability โ€“ able to perform basic repairs on boilers, compressors, valves, and other equipment.
  • Able to safely use basic hand tools.
  • Trustworthy, honest, reliable. Able to operate autonomously for long periods of time with minimal contact with supervisors. Can be counted on to show up for work every day and take full responsibility for the operation.
  • Must possess a valid Class C Driversโ€™ license and a driving record without an excessive number of accidents and/or convictions for moving violations. Must be insurable to operate company vehicles.
  • Successful work experience demonstrating a strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry heavy hoses, fittings, and other equipment weighing 100 pounds. Able to crawl underneath as well as climb on top of rail cars and tankers. Able to stand for long periods.
  • Able to connect heavy 20 foot long by 6 inch wide hoses to underside of railcars and to tanker trucks. This often requires lifting and pulling while in an awkward body position. Able to operate valves that at times may be corroded and difficult to open and close.
  • Able to work out-of-doors and to tolerate extreme weather conditions, such as rain, heat, or cold.
