Location: Gulf Coast Medical Center - 13681 Doctor's Way Fort Myers FL 33912
Department: Public Safety
Work Type: Full Time
Shift: Shift 3/7:00:00 PM to 7:00:00 AM
Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $21.01 - $24.69 / hour
Summary
The Public Safety Officer patrols all areas of their assigned location in all weather conditions. Patrols are conducted on foot or in a variety of vehicles. Patrol areas include hospitals, business occupancy areas, and other areas as assigned. Efficiently maintains a safe and secure environment. Provides assistance to visitors, patients, employees and others with general, Public Safety, and safety issues. Immediately responds to all emergency and disaster situations. Assists patient care staff as required. The Officer follows broad instructions and operates within the guidelines of established System policies and applicable local, state, and federal laws in carrying out duties. Maintains a high code of ethics, moral conduct, confidentiality, and professionalism. Also, maintains a flexible schedule and is able to respond to any Lee Health location. Officers are assigned a diverse set of additional duties as needed to complete a task or mission. May be required to engage and physically control acts of aggression and threatened acts of violence. This position is armed qualified.
Requirements
Educational Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred:
Two years of formal education or training beyond high school.
Experience
Required:
1-year healthcare security or 2 years' general security, law enforcement, military or other related experience required. 2 years' healthcare security preferred.
State of Florida Licensure Requirements
Required:
  • Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of employment
  • Class D Security license from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services; need state issued license or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days.
  • Class G Armed Security license from the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services; need state issued license or proof of application (state issued acknowledgement card) within first 30 days of employment. Proof of State issued license to be provided within 90 days.
Additional Requirements:
  • All license/certification must be current and active at all times

Other Requirements:
Basic computer skills such as typing, using Public Safety software programs, and writing concise detailed reports with proper spelling and grammar. Ability to use basic electronics such as a digital camera, closed circuit television equipment, Digital Video Recorders / DVDs, and multiple line telephones, handheld radio and other Public Safety equipment as assigned.
