Job description

Job Title: Global Consumer Insights Director Location-Type: Onsite - San Francisco, CA (4 days per week) Start Date: ASAP Duration: Contract, approximately 6 months Compensation Range: $65-$83/hr Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible for visa sponsorship Job Description: This role leads the client's consumer insights function on an interim basis, delivering on annual learning plans across two brands through strategic planning and hands-on research execution. Job Summary
  • Lead strategic planning for consumer insights initiatives across two brand portfolios, navigating shifts in business priorities alongside cross-functional partners
  • Design and execute quantitative and qualitative research using self-service platforms, including defining goals, writing questionnaires and discussion guides, moderating discussions, and delivering findings presentations
  • Manage research agency relationships, including RFP processes, methodology recommendations, and vendor oversight to ensure deliverables meet defined objectives
  • Oversee and mentor a team of two consumer insights specialists, with increased individual contributor responsibility during the back half of the engagement
  • Collaborate with brand marketing and product innovation partners to ensure research outputs inform business decisions
  • Translate consumer data into actionable insights that address the "why " and "so what " for internal stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Support research fielding primarily in the US, with occasional project oversight for European markets
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in a consumer insights role, in-house or at a research agency
  • Experience leading Brand Tracking research
  • Experience leading innovation and product development research for physical goods
  • Experience launching research via self-service platforms (e.g., Suzy, Zappi), including questionnaire design, survey management, qualitative moderation, and analysis
  • Experience managing research agency relationships, including RFP management and vendor oversight
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and data analysis in Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading and mentoring a consumer insights team
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners, particularly in brand marketing and product innovation
  • Experience presenting research findings to executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to manage research budgets
  • Ability to balance the broader strategic picture of consumer research with the details of research design and data analysis
