As an Executive Director Control Manager within the Consumer Banking Product organization of Consumer and Community Banking (CCB), you will be responsible for leading a team of Control Managers to build out an enhanced control framework which supports a continuous and integrated approach to risk assessment for our next generation deposit platform. Additionally, you will ensure the team is performing top-down risk analysis, real-time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation.
Job responsibilities:
  • Spearhead the design and execution of forward-thinking control strategies to proactively identify and neutralize compliance and operational risks
  • Oversee the execution of operational plans and strategic projects, ensuring alignment with broader functional and organizational strategy.
  • Forge strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, driving open communication and collaboration to uphold integrity and achieve strategic milestones
  • Inspire and guide a diverse team of Control Managers, cultivating a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and alignment with the organizational vision
  • Harness advanced data analytics, automation, and technology to decode business needs, anticipate trends, and deliver solutions that elevate the control environment
  • Lead anti-fraud and cybersecurity initiatives to ensure operations are fortified and agile against emerging threats

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, with demonstrated expertise in controls, audit, quality assurance, or operational risk management.
  • Strong expertise in risk and control frameworks, with a track record of making independent risk-based decisions in complex situations and advising senior stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Risk with sophisticated understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Experienced people leader with a history of building and developing high-performing teams, setting strategic direction and operating cadence aligned to business priorities, and delivering results through timely coaching and performance management.
  • Proven expertise designing and executing change management strategies for complex, large-scale initiatives, with a track record of driving adoption, minimizing disruption, and leading diverse stakeholder groups through organizational transformation.
  • Ability to persuade and align stakeholders in complex, high-stakes scenarios, with expert-level skill in constructing data-driven arguments, navigating negotiations, and building influential cross-functional relationships across Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Risk.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-party stakeholder relationships across the Business, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Risk, with demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted business advisor to senior leaders, tailor communication to diverse audiences, and navigate competing priorities to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Skilled in designing and delivering sophisticated, high-impact presentations and executive-level communications to senior management, with a recognized ability to synthesize complex discussions and ambiguous information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Extensive background leading cross-functional teams through complex initiatives, with hands-on experience integrating diverse perspectives across Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Risk and fostering inclusive, high-performing collaborative environments.
  • Proven track record of leading structured knowledge transfer for complex projects, with deep expertise establishing repositories and communities of practice that prevent recurrence and translate lessons learned into actionable, sustainable improvements.
  • Expertise in analytical methods in complex and ambiguous environments, with a history of synthesizing data to uncover root causes and risks, rigorously evaluating options and trade-offs, challenging assumptions, and facilitating stakeholder alignment and consensus on critical decisions.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Demonstrated deep policy and regulatory expertise across businesses and products, interprets requirements in ambiguous scenarios to strengthen risk and control environment, and advises stakeholders on compliance.
  • Expertise in analyzing complex data with sophisticated techniques and robust controls, identifies high-impact automation/ML opportunities, translates technical capabilities and data into compelling business cases and insights that drive decisions, and trains and advises teams on data practices and automation strategy.
