Category Analyst (TN, Chattanooga)
TN, Chattanooga
Summary: The Category Analyst is an integral member of the Category Management and Purchasing team and is responsible for conducting strategic advanced data analytics and visualization along with the creation/maintenance of category performance and rebate reporting. This position is responsible for purchase rebate tracking, accruals, and reconciliation. The position will also support various analytical projects within the Category Management team and will be responsible for all external reporting into our group purchasing organization, Foodbuy, to include Accounts Payable reporting and bottler purchase reporting for rebates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
• Utilizing internal operational reporting, consolidate and properly format all bottle purchases for the company into an Excel reporting tool into Foodbuy
• Utilizing internal financial reporting, consolidate and properly format all accounts payable information into Excel for reporting into Foodbuy.
• Using internal operational reporting, calculate all rebates owed based upon monthly purchases through all supplier sources. Individual must be highly proficient in Excel to navigate all reporting to efficiently calculate a monthly accrual for rebates.
• Utilizing Foodbuy reporting via Excel, reconcile on a monthly basis what was paid versus the monthly accrual by supplier.
• Communicate and coordinate any issues or ongoing shortfalls with Canteen and Foodbuy to fully rectify any shortfalls to the accrual.
• For the Category Management Deportment, analyze and interpret consumer and sales insights to identify consumer trends and identify potential marketing and revenue opportunities for our customers and stores
• Research and analyze data and other category-related information to identify trends, category performance, competitive threats, opportunities, etc. to support business decisions
• Use data sources to develop regular and ad hoc reports to include out of stock, opportunity gap, SKU rationalization, plan-o-gram analysis, promotion analysis, item tracking, pricing studies to include elasticity, financial performance, sales, and inventory movement
• Provide internal business management with accurate and pertinent information that enhances and guides effective decision making
• Consult with internal business teams to provide analysis and insights designed to support key business decisions
• Perform various projects which will include developing project plans, processes, and timelines to accomplish them
• Leverage analytical insights to develop actionable items for improvement
• Conduct field analysis to make recommendations for improvement
• Design, manage, and run customized reports for category managers, directors, and executive
• Liaison with the Business Intelligence team to ensure necessary data requirements and increase knowledgebase of how data flows, where it is stored, and how to access it in our enterprise system
• Determine market needs and/or gaps and assist in creating a strategy to capture new growth in the assigned areas
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
Qualifications:
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
• Strong analytic skills with a high attention to detail
• Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Candidate must be a minimum of intermediate level skillset in Excel.
• Solution based analytics and report development
• Methods for effectively planning project scope, creating processes and timelines accordingly
• Solid communication and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to manipulate and interpret data in Excel
• Effective presentation skills using PowerPoint, leveraging insights and communicating strategic recommendations from analyses
• Previous knowledge and experience with consumer products, such as snacks and beverages is a plus
Management/Supervisory: None
Education and Experience:
• BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Accounting, or related discipline
• 2+ years of data analyst experience, including specific experience working with large scale data and customer segmentation analysis
Language, Communication, and Appearance Skills:
Mathematical Skills: Intermediate or higher
Reasoning Ability: Strong synthesis, analytical, and deductive reasoning skills
Other Qualifications: Naturally curious, self-driven, and willing to challenge conventional ways of thinking.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Intermediate or expert in the use of Excel. Knowledge of MS Access is a plus. Knowledge of other MS products including PowerPoint, SharePoint and Word.
