Job description

Department Summary
The Anderson Behavioral Lab assists Anderson-affiliated researchers in conducting behavioral research. To this end, the Anderson Behavioral Lab administers studies both in person (i.e., lab studies) and online. The research being conducted spans a wide range of topics, including judgment and decision making, consumer behavior and organizational behavior. This interdisciplinary research laboratory serves as a major resource to the UCLA Anderson School of Management, contributing to our reputation for excellence in academic research.
Position Summary
Assist with creating and running research studies, strategic planning, and project coordination for the UCLA Anderson Behavioral Lab and for the researchers who are part of the lab. Responsibilities include: preparing and conducting a diverse array of research studies and assisting in the recruitment of participants and in the collection and management of the data; coordinating payment for participants, approving and tracking funding and managing the lab's budget; training, coordinating, and supervising undergraduate staff, purchasing supplies and maintaining up-to-date computer software. Responsibilities also include conducting library and online research for faculty members and helping faculty members prepare supplementary aspects of papers (references, tables, proofreading). Provide assistance in the preparation of human subjects applications and track ongoing contracts between the projects and the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects (OPRS). Behavioral Lab Manager will report to all supervising lab faculty while working in conjunction with the UCLA Anderson Behavioral Lab members (postdoc- and graduate students). Lab Manager will work under minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment in making procedural adjustments and appropriately manage deadlines and workflow.

Qualifications
  • Experience working in at least one psychology lab or similar research setting. (Required)
  • Experience assisting with research on at least one of the following topics: stigma, prejudice, discrimination, diversity, groups, emotions, subjective well-being, judgment and decision-making, consumer behavior, or social influence. (Required)
  • Knowledge of library system (including use of the online search engines PsychInfo and PubMed) for various methods of research. (Required)
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely fashion in spite of changes in workload, changes in assignments, pressure of deadlines, competing assignments and heavy workloads. (Required)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Able to communicate effectively with research participants and to conduct data collection using clear and standardized procedures. (Required)
  • Skilled in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
  • Skilled in Qualtrics and MTurk online data collection. (Required)
  • Knowledge of PC and Mac computers and applications; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel. (Required)
  • Excellent organization skills. (Required)
  • Familiarity with APA and other styles of writing. Background and experience writing or contributing to the writing of reports, proposals, and/or related documents. (Required)
  • Computer skills including word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, and databases. Functional knowledge for conducting statistical analyses in SPSS, R, or SAS. (Required)
  • Rudimentary accounting skills and the ability to interpret budgets. (Required)
  • Willingness to become familiar with the forms and submission procedures to obtain research approvals from the UCLA Institutional Review Board and Office for the Protection of Research Subjects. (Required)
  • Excellent skills in oral and written English communication. (Required)
  • Ability and willingness to work with competing deadlines, meet fixed deadlines, manage multiple assignments, and follow through tasks to completion. (Required)
