Description:

The Branch Manager is responsible for implementing and executing a sales and service culture to grow profitability. This position is held accountable for new checking account acquisitions, consumer lending, customer experience, deposit generation, retention / growth of market share and training / development of direct reports. Branches have a great deal of banking complexities, high-volume deposit and lending requiring a high degree of banking acumen. The Branch Manager is expected to grow the Retail and Small Business segments by providing financial solutions for customers and has overall accountability for branch performance management.

Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Achieving Retail Banking Goals:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Branch Banking to achieve sales, service, operational, financial, and customer experience goals.
  • Implement and drive key initiatives that align with the broader organizational strategy across all locations.
  • Set and achieve growth goals, including branch sales, fee income, and service targets.
  • Lead and manage sales efforts through structured sales routines, SMART goals, and continuous coaching.
  • Establish and maintain robust controls to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Partner with revenue-generating departments—such as Mortgage, Commercial, Wealth Management, and Private Banking
  • along with Marketing and HR to deliver outstanding sales, service, and operational results.
  • Prioritize customer information security by adhering to all compliance rules and working closely with the compliance team.

Growing Profitability:

  • Drive small business activities by prospecting new relationships and deepening existing ones.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and refer customers to other lines of business, enhancing overall profitability.
  • Network and build relationships within the community to identify new business opportunities and expand the branch’s reach.
  • Oversee and manage the sale of consumer loans, credit cards, home equity lines of credit, and overdraft protection services.
  • Develop and execute both short- and long-term plans to achieve sales, service, operational, and financial goals.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Inspire and lead your team by setting clear goals, providing regular coaching, and developing action plans to exceed expectations.
  • Conduct regular performance inspections and provide timely feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Engage with the community by participating in bank-sponsored events and other activities alongside your team.
  • Partner proactively with HR to address performance and behavior concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings to identify new opportunities and celebrate successes.
  • Actively participate in the development and mentorship of your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate actively in internal committees as requested.
  • Continuously seek ways to streamline services and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support the branch’s overall success.
  • Participate in risk assessments

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is located in an office environment with artificial lighting and controlled heating/air conditioning.
