Associate Consultant - Financial Institutions Consulting

The IQVIA Financial Institutions Consulting group (FIC) focuses on partnering with Global Financial Investors (e.g., Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds) and corporate clients (e.g. Biopharma companies) on M&A, investment, and strategic engagements.

IQVIA FIC supports investment decisions across the healthcare/life sciences sector and offers value-creation partnerships that maximize ROI and generate significant business pull-through for IQVIA. As such, the IQVIA FIC team engages with healthcare/life sciences investors globally to provide expertise and support on strategy, commercial due diligence, company/target screening, carve-outs, divestments, portfolio value creation, and other business development engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to internal brainstorming sessions to develop project methodology and recommendations
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to inform client solutions, leveraging IQVIA's proprietary tools and databases as necessary
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform strategic recommendations; exercise informed judgment in identifying the approach to addressing key business questions
  • Conduct market sizing, competitive landscape assessments, and growth forecasting using both proprietary and public data sources
  • Interview senior leaders and executives on the client team or external stakeholders (e.g. physicians, health insurers, thought leaders, and patients)
  • Take ownership for the development of reports, presentations and other client deliverables, under the guidance of more senior team members
  • Present to client audiences via teleconference or in face-to-face meetings at the client site
  • Cultivate professional relationships with members of the client team
  • Acquire deep knowledge of IQVIA data sources and tools
  • Proactively develop knowledge of the healthcare industry and consulting methodologies
  • Leveraging healthcare / life science education background and knowledge to understand pharmaceutical / biotech client's business, product, and related therapeutic area / market
  • Leveraging healthcare / life science education background to conduct primary research with Key Opinion Leaders and other stakeholders in the healthcare space and develop key insights of R&D trend, therapeutic approach, unmet medical need, and related topics
  • Leveraging healthcare and life science education background to conduct secondary research (e.g. scientific publications, databases, technology reports, etc.) and develop key evidence / solutions for pharmaceutical / biotech client's business questions
  • Leveraging healthcare / life science education background to understand pharmaceutical market structure, and math / engineering education background to develop quantitative model to reflect revenue flow and market dynamics
  • Assist in proposal development and thought leadership activities

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong capability in managing priorities so that deadlines are met while retaining consistent, high-quality outcomes
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals
  • Ability to think creatively and create innovative solutions where needed
  • Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries

  • Experience or interest in working with private equity, venture capital, or hedge fund clients is preferred


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • An advanced degree (MPH/MS/MBA) in a life sciences related field with work experience, or relevant undergraduate degree with 1-3 years of relevant post-undergraduate work experience
  • Background in finance, economics, business, or STEM fields required
  • Prior internship or work experience in consulting, investment banking, or healthcare strategy required
  • An avid interest in the healthcare and life science industries with the ability to take initiative to follow new trends and changes in the market
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of client-based businesses
  • Project management experience desired
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills required
  • Exceptional written, numerical, and problem-solving skills required
  • Adaptability and an ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $65,400.00 - $163,600.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
