About the role, Your Impact:
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Construction Technician in our Bannockburn, or Crysal Lake, IL office. The Technician will support the firm's construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways to underground utility installations. Additionally, this position will assist with the planning, design, and construction of a variety of facilities. This position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.
What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job
  • Quantity Computation.
  • Construction Layout/Survey.
  • Observe, measure and document construction activities.
  • Produce and edit engineering plans using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Prepare CAD plan sheet drawings.
  • Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery.
  • General civil engineering and client service.

Education Requirement
  • Associate's degree in Structural/Architecture and/or Construction Management Technology desired or related field experience.

Must-haves, what you will bring
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
  • Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
  • Ability to travel throughout the northern Chicagoland area (own transportation).
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Compensation - The pay range for this role is $28.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
