Job description

Looking for a safety role where you can make an impact in the field-not just manage paperwork?

At McGrath, safety is more than a policy-it's part of how we plan, communicate, and complete every project. As our Field Safety Manager, you'll work directly with field crews, superintendents, subcontractors, and project teams to identify hazards, solve problems, and make sure everyone goes home safely.

We're a 100% employee-owned construction manager and general contractor with a strong pipeline of industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, energy, and commercial work-and we're growing.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Visiting active jobsites and conducting regular safety inspections
  • Identifying hazards and working with project teams to correct them
  • Supporting field crews and superintendents with practical safety solutions
  • Leading safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training
  • Conducting new-hire safety orientations
  • Reviewing project-specific safety plans and job hazard analyses
  • Investigating incidents, injuries, and near misses
  • Preparing and maintaining safety reports, records, and training documentation
  • Monitoring subcontractor compliance with company and OSHA requirements
  • Promoting a positive, proactive safety culture across all jobsites

Why safety professionals choose McGrath:

  • Strong project pipeline - steady work across multiple construction markets
  • Field-focused role - spend time where safety leadership matters most
  • Supportive leadership - work with teams that value safety and accountability
  • Employee-owned company - take pride in the work and the company's success
  • Projects that are clean, organized, and well-managed
  • Opportunity to help shape and strengthen companywide safety practices

What we're looking for:

  • 1-5 years of construction safety experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and jobsite safety practices
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification minimum
  • Ability to conduct Risk assessments, train, manage, and guide onsite construction personnel
  • Experience conducting jobsite inspections and incident investigations
  • Ability to communicate confidently with employees, subcontractors, and leadership
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing documentation and follow-up
  • Ability to travel regularly to jobsites throughout the St. Louis regional area
  • Comfortable walking active jobsites, climbing ladders and stairs, and working in indoor and outdoor conditions

Bonus if you have:

  • CHST, CSP, or a related safety certification
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, industrial, healthcare, energy, or commercial construction
  • Experience developing safety programs or leading companywide training
  • Familiarity with electronic safety reporting systems

What you get:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • 100% employee-owned company
  • Company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match and Roth option
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued safety education
  • Long-term, stable work with a respected contractor

*McGrath is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

*This position is Safety Sensitive, and Mandatory Substance Abuse Testing through the St. Louis Construction Industry Substance Abuse Consortium is required.

*Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
