Job description

Construction Safety Manager (CSM)

West Lafayette, IN

We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager (CSM) to lead project safety and serve as a key representative to the owner, contractors, and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with a proven construction safety track record.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily site safety and health activities, inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Conduct safety meetings, maintain agendas, minutes, action items, and attendance records.
  • Document inspection findings and track corrective actions through closeout.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and required reporting.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, policies, JSAs/JHAs, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable OSHA Construction/General Industry requirements.
  • Provide ongoing safety training, coaching, and compliance guidance to site personnel.
  • Work closely with the owner, contractors, subcontractors, and project leadership to drive a strong safety culture.
Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • CSP, CIH, ASP, ARM, CHST, OHST, or similar credential + 3 years construction safety experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or related field + 3 years construction safety experience; OR
  • 5+ years of relevant construction safety experience.

Required:

  • OSHA 500 Construction or OSHA 30-Hour Construction completed within the past 5 years.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and BBP certification through Red Cross or approved equivalent.
