Job description

The Director of Portfolio Construction & Research will lead a team of research analysts within UC Wealth.  The research analysts will be charged with optimizing UC Wealth’s open architecture portfolio management process which lies at the core of UC Wealth’s exercise of discretionary asset management.  The team will be responsible for outside manager searches, due diligence on approved managers and the construction of a spectrum of investment portfolios optimized for different risk and reward characteristics.  The team will maintain the list of managers approved by the Asset Management Council, publish investment performance information and fact sheets on the approved managers.  Perform regular due diligence on same.  The team will also communicate developments in markets and the economy internally to UC Wealth and externally to its clients.  The Director will lead this effort, supervise the research analysts, and communicate the results of their research to the Asset Management Council, as well as the Team Members of UC Wealth.
Position is available in Greenville, SC or Orlando, FL


  • Lead UC Wealth’s investment research function.
  • Supervise investment research analysts, guide research, and communicate results.
  • Participate in meetings of Asset Management Council and report results of investment research activities.
  • Communicate results of investment research to Portfolio Managers and Wealth Management team.
  • Initiate manager searches, as needed.
  • Lead ongoing due diligence on managers, communicate results to Asset Management Council.
  • Lead research and testing on model portfolios and target asset allocations.
  • Communicate developments in markets and the economy both internally to UC Wealth, and externally to clients.
  • Compliance Training:  Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field, graduate degree preferred.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in investment management.
  • Investment management, Portfolio Analysis

  • Communication of market and economic conditions
  • Preferred Skills:
    • CFA holder or CFA candidate

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
  • This is a full-time, non-remote position
