Job description

HGA is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in a direct-hire capacity, supporting public works projects in Ruston, LA.
The Public Works Civil Engineer will oversee the civil technical aspects of public works projects, leading design teams and coordinating project delivery from scope through execution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees and is responsible for the civil technical aspects of public works projects
  • Assumes leadership of a project team as lead engineer and coordinates the design aspects of projects, including generation of calculations and design drawings as well as field work
  • Assesses project requirements to determine scope of work, budget, and staffing
  • Prepares or checks all technical calculations and drawings for accuracy
  • Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and project scope
  • Maintains communication between clients, other engineers, and design staff to ensure schedule and budget accuracy
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration required
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in civil design and public works/roadway projects
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices per applicable codes and standards
  • Knowledge of engineering practices, design details, codes, standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Ability to generate calculations for civil projects
  • Strong engineering management, communication, client relationship, and team management skills
  • Ability to obtain field information and conduct site investigations at operating plants or construction sites
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Windows, and MS Word required
  • Must be located within daily commuting distance of Ruston, LA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 3-D or similar software
