Hunt Guillot & Associates (HGA) is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled
Facility Designer/Drafter to support engineering and construction projects across multiple industries. This role is responsible for developing accurate design drawings, layouts, and documentation to support facility design, construction, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in drafting software, an understanding of engineering design principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to deliver high-quality, timely results.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and develop graphic representations of complex components, systems, and layouts that include non-standard or unique design features
- Translate general design concepts, sketches, and engineering input into accurate, detailed drawings and models
- Work in close collaboration with engineers and design originators to ensure alignment with design intent and project requirements
- Analyze the impact of design changes and revisions, evaluating effects on form, function, fit, and positional relationships between components
- Incorporate revisions into drawings while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and adherence to drafting standards
- Recommend minor design or layout adjustments to improve clarity, constructability, or efficiency
- Prepare and maintain drawings, layouts, and documentation packages for facility, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and established drafting practices, with attention to detail and completeness
- Support design reviews and coordination efforts, resolving drafting and layout conflicts as needed
- Maintain organized document control, revision tracking, and file management
- May provide guidance or direction to lower-level drafters, including reviewing work and assisting with complex assignments
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure drawings reflect current field conditions, project scope, and applicable standards
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of drafting experience, supporting increasingly complex design projects
- Demonstrated ability to plan and develop graphic presentations for complex components or systems with unique or non-standard design features
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and experience with Revit, SolidWorks, or similar design software preferred
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, design principles, and drawing practices
- Ability to work closely with engineers and design originators, translating concepts into accurate, functional drawings
- Experience analyzing and incorporating design changes, including evaluating impacts to form, function, and spatial relationships of components
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and quality of deliverables
- Ability to work with moderate supervision, with completed work reviewed for alignment with design intent and project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting facility, infrastructure, or industrial design projects
- Familiarity with as-builts, field verification, and site layouts
- Ability to guide or support lower-level drafters, including reviewing or directing portions of their work
- Exposure to document control, revision tracking, and design coordination workflows
