Job description

SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company, part of the STO Building Group, is seeking a driven Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of complex construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. In this role, you will partner closely with field leadership, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, and engineers, while actively managing project performance, cost, and risk to drive successful outcomes. 
The Project Manager reports to and is directly accountable to the Project Executive.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Hire, lead, develop, and manage project personnel, including delegation and reassignment of responsibilities in alignment with company policies and project needs
  • Lead overall project execution, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents
  • Establish and implement project operating procedures to drive consistency, efficiency, and successful project outcomes
  • Oversee development and management of project budgets and schedules, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and proactive risk management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review and analyze project performance reports to effectively manage cost, schedule, quality, and safety, keeping leadership informed of project status and risks
  • Manage procurement and approve material purchases, equipment rentals, and jobsite tools not included in the original estimate
  • Serve as the primary company representative in communications and negotiations with owners, architects, engineers, and key stakeholders
  • Oversee contract administration, including approval of agreements and costs associated with equipment, repairs, and subcontractor/vendor scope
  • Audit and monitor all project activities from contract execution through closeout and warranty to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and partners to support successful project delivery
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement through active participation in company initiatives, including the Quality Improvement Plan 
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of relevant construction project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field. 
  • General Contractor License preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industry practices and trends and their impact on the corporation. 
  • Advanced interpersonal, communicative, and organizational skills.
