Job description

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Preconstruction Estimator to join our estimating team, focusing on water and wastewater treatment plant (WTP/WWTP) projects. This role supports collaborative delivery methods-such as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Design-Build (DB), and Progressive Design-Build (PDB)-where early contractor involvement and teamwork with design partners and owners are key to success.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in civil or process mechanical construction, analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset. You'll play a key role in developing accurate estimates, evaluating design alternatives, and shaping projects that improve water infrastructure across our communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates at various design stages (10%, 30%, 60%, 90%).
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, mechanical, and process disciplines.
  • Solicit, analyze, and scope subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure accuracy and coverage.
  • Collaborate with design partners to align design development with cost and constructability considerations.
  • Support the development of pricing models, cost summaries, and GMP or target price proposals.
  • Participate in design and value engineering sessions, providing cost-driven feedback.
  • Assist with client presentations and internal preconstruction deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-8 years of estimating or project management experience, preferably in water/wastewater treatment.
  • Experience in collaborative delivery projects (CMAR, DB, or PDB) strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as InEight; strong Excel and quantity takeoff skills.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, or Navisworks a plus.
  • Understanding of treatment process systems, mechanical/electrical components, and construction sequencing.

Preferred Attributes

  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in preconstruction for complex water infrastructure projects.

Why Join Us?

Join a collaborative and purpose-driven team delivering essential water and wastewater projects. We offer competitive pay, professional development opportunities, and a culture that values innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
