Job Summary:

The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day production activities within the hot rolling and scalping departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.  This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in the hot rolling processes and equipment, and a commitment to continuous improvement...both within hot rolling and cross department initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management
    • Championing a strong culture of following plant safety standards
    • Conduct audits and correct non-compliant behaviors and situations
  • Quality Management
    • Work hand in hand with department and site level quality team
    • Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Production Management
    • Direct and coordinate all operations to meet production targets
    • Monitor process parameters and KPIs to optimize process
    • Ensure compliance with metallurgical and customer specifications
  • Leadership
    • Supervise and mentor production foremen and shopfloor employees
    • Develop training programs and KPIs to enhance employee skills
    • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
    • Report out regular updates to Senior Management
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Identify and implement lean manufacturing processes where needed
    • Develop tools to determine mill availability and capacities
    • Work hand in hand with maintenance department to prioritize jobs and timeframes to complete them

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, required
  • 7+ years of experience in aluminum rolling operations, required
  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership roles, required
  • Strong knowledge of hot rolling processes and mill equipment, required
  • Proven track record in safety, quality, and process optimization, required
  • Excellent leadership, communications, and problem-solving skills, required
