Job description

Supervisor - Water Transmission & Distribution
Want to lead from the field instead of spending every day behind a desk?
We're looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys construction, daily field activity, and solving problems as they arise. In this role, you'll supervise water transmission and distribution crews, coordinate construction and repair projects, and help keep critical utility infrastructure operating safely and reliably.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with water distribution and construction management experience who wants meaningful leadership responsibility, room to grow, excellent benefits, and the ability to be home every night.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of transmission and distribution field crews.
  • Plan and oversee the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, pipelines, valves, hydrants, and service connections.
  • Spend time in the field inspecting work, resolving challenges, and ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to leaks, breaks, outages, construction issues, and other service disruptions.
  • Coordinate priorities with operations, dispatch, engineering, customer service, contractors, and vendors.
  • Coach, train, and develop crew leaders and utility employees.
  • Support employee evaluations, performance management, and accountability.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, capital projects, and construction planning.
  • Monitor vehicles, equipment, pre-trip inspections, DOT requirements, materials, and inventory.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, project, and operational records.
  • Support emergency-response coordination and on-call field crews as needed.
  • Communicate daily work activity and project updates across departments.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least five years of field experience installing, repairing, and maintaining water distribution systems.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience leading, training, and developing employees.
  • Construction management or project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of underground piping, utility maps, installation practices, and field safety.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to develop practical solutions in changing field conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn company-specific systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • A field-focused leadership role with visible, meaningful results.
  • Challenging construction and infrastructure projects.
  • The freedom to solve problems and make an impact.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop an experienced team.
  • Career advancement and room to grow.
  • Excellent benefits.
  • Local work that allows you to be home each night.
Work Environment
This position combines outdoor field leadership with some office responsibilities. The work involves construction sites, heavy equipment, underground utilities, changing weather conditions, climbing, bending, and lifting. Participation in emergency response and occasional after-hours callouts is required.
