Support critical infrastructure projects as an Experienced Construction Materials Technician
CMT Technical Services is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Technician to join our team in West Valley City, Utah. This role is responsible for performing routine field testing and documentation of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Compensation: $22-25/hour (based on experience and certifications)
Location: West Valley City, UT
FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Hours may vary
What you'll be doing:
  • Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with construction plans and specifications
  • Conduct and document field tests including density, concrete, aggregate, and related materials testing procedures
  • Prepare accurate daily reports, field documentation, and datasheets
  • Communicate testing results and project updates with supervisors and project teams
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality
  • Follow company safety procedures and industry testing standards
  • Assist with additional field or laboratory tasks as assigned by supervisors
What you have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction materials testing experience
  • ACI Field Grade I certification
  • SRDTT certification
  • WAQTC In-Place Density certification
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications as required
What will make you stand out:
  • Additional ICC, WAQTC, ACI, or UDOT certifications
  • Experience working on DOT, commercial, or heavy civil construction projects
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Certification(s):
  • ACI Field Grade I
  • SRDTT
  • WAQTC In-Place Density
  • Additional industry certifications are a plus
