Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction work from planning through execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader who can drive safe execution, manage cost and schedule performance, coordinate with engineering and procurement teams, and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and field personnel.

This role plays a key part in ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all quality and client requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
  • Develop detailed construction execution plans, schedules, work packages, and resource plans for assigned projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction packages for constructability, completeness, and execution readiness.
  • Plan and coordinate construction activities including equipment installations, piping systems, utility tie-ins, maintenance outages, shutdowns, and turnaround work.
  • Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements to support project execution.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and client representatives to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage project execution to achieve schedule milestones and client expectations.
  • Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to minimize impacts to cost and schedule.
Safety & Quality Leadership
  • Lead jobsite safety planning and ensure compliance with Bilfinger, client, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), work permits, and pre-task planning activities.
  • Support field supervision in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and accountability.
  • Ensure quality standards are implemented and maintained throughout project execution.
  • Support inspections, testing, punch list management, turnover documentation, and project closeout activities.
Cost Management & Procurement
  • Develop labor estimates, material takeoffs, and equipment requirements.
  • Create and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Monitor project productivity and cost performance throughout execution.
  • Manage project change orders and support commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Work with Procurement and suppliers to secure materials, equipment, and specialty services.
  • Develop subcontractor bid packages and support subcontractor selection and scope alignment.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead project planning meetings, construction coordination meetings, and client progress reviews.
  • Communicate schedule impacts, field constraints, opportunities, and project risks.
  • Collaborate closely with other Construction Managers and project teams to ensure coordinated site execution.
  • Maintain professional relationships that support long-term client satisfaction and business growth.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Create and maintain project schedules, progress reports, manpower forecasts, and cost projections.
  • Track project metrics and communicate performance to leadership.
  • Ensure project documentation, RFIs, change order records, and construction files are maintained accurately and timely.
  • Support project turnover and closeout documentation requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industrial construction experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial construction experience, preferably within mechanical, process, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, consumer products, power, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing industrial construction activities and coordinating multiple work fronts simultaneously.
  • Experience with shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance projects, or capital project execution.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, procurement, and subcontractor management.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, piping isometrics, and construction documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar project management software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Construction principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience preparing subcontractor bid packages and managing construction contracts.
  • Experience supporting industrial maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround environments.
  • Familiarity with digital construction tools, construction planning software, and field productivity systems.
