Position Description
The Paving Crew Member is responsible for performing duties related to the paving operation, and the safe and responsible operation of all applicable machinery and equipment. CDL License preferred to help the paving crew.
Essential Functions:
The following list is intended to be exemplary of the physical demands of the position however it is not exhaustive of all day-to-day functions. The incumbent will be required to perform any or all of the following in a given day or week:
  • Work as part of a paving crew to complete projects at various job sites
  • Immediately report any equipment damage, safety hazards, or accidents to the foreman
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods (10-12 hours with legally required breaks), and regularly using hands, reaching, walking, climbing stairs/ladders/catwalks, and performing movements such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and crouching
  • Maintain knowledge of machine controls, safety features, and proper operation in accordance with company safety policies and equipment manuals
  • Ability to consistently lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
  • Travel regionally with the crew; must have dependable transportation and be able to accommodate occasional overnight travel

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior industry experience preferred
  • Must hold applicable equipment operator licenses
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making ability
  • Ability to read and interpret MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)

Work Conditions:
Incumbent must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided, including hearing protection as required), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions - frequently in extreme heat.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, handle, feel, talk, see, and listen. Employee may sit for an hour or more at a time.

Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with Foreman where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.
