Role Overview

The Construction Intern supports both the planning and execution phases of concrete construction projects, gaining hands-on experience in formwork design, project estimating, scheduling, and safety tracking. Working alongside project teams, the intern helps resolve design challenges, coordinate materials and resources, and prepare proposals and quantity takeoffs, while also contributing to special assignments and broader project needs.

This internship is designed as a one-on-one learning experience. By working with engineers, managers, and field teams, you’ll see firsthand how classroom knowledge translates into real-world application. The goal is for you to complete this internship with practical skills, greater confidence, and a clearer direction for your career in construction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and estimating stage of projects to ensure the most efficient, safe, and economical form systems are incorporated into the project design.
  • Assist with the preparation of accurate formwork layout drawings and erection instructions for field crews.
  • Works closely with the project team monitoring the safety, cost, and scheduling of construction projects.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves concerns regarding structural design with project team.
  • Aids in the preparation of quantity surveys, formwork estimates, and project proposals.
  • Assists in coordination of material purchases, deliveries, tracking, and forecasting, ensuring maximum utilization of Ceco’s physical resources.
  • Manages special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • In the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.
  • Some knowledge of AutoCAD and/or BIM Modeling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to travel and work for an extended period of time on projects outside of office area.
