We're seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support roadway, bridge, utility, and other infrastructure projects throughout the region. This is a part-time, as-needed position with workload varying based on project schedules and seasonal construction activity.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, collaborating with contractors and project teams, and ensuring construction projects are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with plans and specifications.

This position may be an excellent fit for experienced inspectors, construction professionals, or recently retired industry professionals seeking flexible project-based work while remaining engaged in meaningful infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do
  • Inspect roadway, bridge, utility, drainage, and other infrastructure construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor operations and document construction progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform construction materials testing including concrete, soils, aggregate, and asphalt testing.
  • Maintain accurate field records, test results, and quantity calculations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, project owners, material suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Interpret construction plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Support project quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance to junior inspectors when assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience performing construction inspection and materials testing on transportation, utility, or other civil infrastructure projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management. (Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Relevant industry certifications such as DOT, ACI, ICC, NICET, or equivalent credentials are a plus.
  • Experience with transportation, roadway, bridge, utility, or public infrastructure projects.
  • Surveying and construction layout experience.
Work Environment:

This role is primarily field-based and performed outdoors at active construction sites. Candidates should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and walking uneven terrain. The position may involve lifting, carrying equipment, standing for extended periods, and travel to project locations throughout the region.
